On the right is a small, partially hidden, fenced in graveyard. It's exactly 1 mile from the Ridge Spring Post Office, if traveling towards Ward and Johnston). Matthis and Clara Jones? -Alan) **Noted in the book 'Bone by Bone' By Peter Matthiessen, in part; "in the company of cavalry formed and captained by his uncle Tillman Watson." and also by Matthiessen; 'The Man Who Killed Belle Starr' ***Gravestone reads: "Sacred to the memory of Eliza E. Jones, who died August 3oth, 1849 in the nineteenth year of her age. She was the young amiable and devoted wife of U. (V?) Bolivar Jones who volunteered as a soldier in the Palmetto regiment for the Mexican War, in which he discharged his duties with honor to himself and to his country and after much toil, suffering and privation found a premature grave at Puebla in Mexico on the 3rd of July 1847.
