This Indenture made the eight day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety and in the fourteeth year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America-Between Absalom Griffin and Susanna his wife of Edgefield County in the state of South Carolina planters of the one part and Cary Cox of the same County and state planter of the other part witnefseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Five shillings to this in hand will and Truly paid by the said Cary Cox at and before the sealing and delivery here of (the Receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged) hath bargained & sold and by their presets doth bargain and sell unto the said Cary Cox his heirs and afsigns a certain Plantation or tract of land containing by estimation Three hundred and fifty acres of land be the same more or lefs. Situate lying & being in Edgefield County in the State of South Carolina on the branches of Turkey Creek waters of Savannah River, having Luck shape form and mark butting & boundings as by a Platt to the original Grant doth Represent granted unto Thomas Griffin by his Excellancy Will Bull Govenor and Commander in chief in and over the province of South Carolina the Twenty third day of June 1774 and by him conveyed by deed of gift to his son Absalom Griffin. Together with all & singular the gardens, orchards, fences, buildings, ways, wells, waters, watercourses, easements, profits, commodities, advantages, Emduments, Heredilaments & appurtenances whatsoever to the said plantation or tract of the Three hundred & fifty acres of land more of lefs belonging or in anywise appertaining and the revision and revisions and remainders thereof, and every part and paid there of To have and to hold the said plantation or Tract of Three hundred and Fifty acres of land more or lefs and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned or intended to be hereby bargained and sold and every part and parcel there of with ___ and every of their appurtenances unto the said Cary Cox his heirs and afsigns from the day next before the day of the date of these presents for and during the full Firm and unto the full end and Firm of one whole year from thence next ensuing and fully to be completed and ended Yielding and Paying there unto the said Absalom Griffin and Susanna his wife their heirs of afsigns the rent of one pepper corn on the last day of the said Firm if the same shall be lawfully demanded to the intent and purpose that the said Cary Cox by virtue hereof and by force of the statute for transferring were into Lofieficon may be in the actual pofoefsion of the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be hereby bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with theses and every of their appurtenances and maybe hereby enables to accept & take a grant and release of the revesion and Inheritance of the same to him & his heirs forever.
