All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/sc/scfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins October 14, 2003 Edgefield District Written: December 19 1810 Recorded: October 10 1811 Edgefield County Deed Book 30, page 451 William Jones } Deed of Conveyance (9 Nov. 1811) To } The State of South Carolina Wilkin C Smith } Know all men by these presents that I William Jones of Edgefield District & State aforesaid for & in Consideration of Three hundred Dollars to me paid by Wilkin C smith of the State & District have granted Bargained Sold & released and by these presents do grant Bargain Sell and release unto the sd Wilkin Smith a Certain Tract or parcel of Land Containing Ninety two acres more or less Situate in the said District on Mores Creek being part of two tracts of Land one of sd Tracts Containing two hundred Acres granted to John Smith on the 13th Day of October 1774 the other tract contains fifty Seven Acres granted to Job Padget on the 19th day of October 1792 and the said Tract of Ninety Two acres is to have bounds as follow begining at a Hickory corner x3 on Samuel Deans line and runs N. 36 E 13 chains to a Stake x3 thence N 55 W 27 chs 40 links to a Stake x3 thence S 35 W 75 links to a Stake x3 thence N 60 to Mores Creek then down Creek to the mouth of the first branch westside to a pine corner then up said branch to a pine corner x3 on Wilkin C Smiths line thence thence S 10 W 19 chs 20 links to a Stake x3 thence S 55 E 18 chains to a red oak x3 thence 35 E to Job Padgets Corner thence S 55 E 26 chs 50 lks to the hickory at the beginning. Together with all & Singular the rights members hereditaments & appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining Saving and Reserving nevertheless all the Said Swamp or Land that Job Padgets Mill Pond does overflow. To have and to hold all and Singular the premises before mentioned unto sd Wilkin Smith his heirs & assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors Admts and assigns to warrant and forever defend all and Singular the said premises unto the sd Wilkin Smith his heirs & assigns against myself and my heirs and against any other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof, Witness my hand and seal this 19th Day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and Ten --- his Witness present Robt Gowan, Thos Dean Senr } William x Jones mark State of Sth Carolina } Personally appeared ________ ___land and after Edgefield District } being duly Sworn out as the Law directs & says on his oath that he was present and did see William Jones sign Seal and deliver the within deed of Conveyance to the sd Wilkin C.
