Of Edgefield District in the State aforesaid in consideration of thirteen hundred dollars to me paid by John Mims of the State and District aforesaid have granted, bargained, sold and released, and by these presents do grant bargain, sell and release unto the said John Mims all that plantation or tract of land including the Griss(?) mill and Mill seat thereon containing two hundred and forty four acres more or less situate [sic] in the district aforesaid, on Rays Creek, water of Hornes creek, of Stephens creek, of Savannah River bounded North on the land of said John Mims, et al (?) and Daniel Huff, West on John Addison, and on the S.E. on land of Benjamin Harrison and hath such shape form and marks as [a plat?] of the same hereunto an-nexed doth be present. – Together with all and singular the rights members, hereditaments, and appertenances [sic] to the said premises be-longing or in anywise incident or appertaining To have and to Hold, all and singular the premises beforementioned, unto the said John Mims his heirs and assigns forever. And I do hereby bind myself my heirs executors and administrators, to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said John Mims his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and against every person whomsoever, lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. --- Witness my hand and seal, this twenty third day of December in the year of Our Lord One thousand Eight hun-dred and Sixteen and in the forty first year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America.
