Entered the service in 1776 in SC. Calvin married Rebecca FORD in April or May 1782 near Georgetown, SC. Calvin died 19 Jan 1801. Rebecca remarried after Calvin died: Thomas POWE on 23 Feb 1808. Thomas POWE died 7 May 1817. Rebecca was 74 years of age on 27 May 1839 when she applied for a pension due to Calvin's War service. She died 14 Oct 1843. Deposition dated 23 May 1853 of O.H. SPENCER, son of Calvin and Rebecca, names Rebecca's children as follows: Eliza POWE * Samuel SPENCER Henry SPENCER * Harriett FLEMING William SPENCER Oliver H. SPENCER * Eliza Powe and Henry Spencer are listed as being deceased at the time of this deposition. Oliver was Executor of Rebecca's estate.
