BAKER and daughter of Esan and Delphia BROOKS. She was born in Edgefield county, on Dec. 16, 1846. She early felt there was a void in her heart nothing earthly could fill, and wisely she sought and found in God, the rest her soul desired and made a covenant by sacrifice with God and joined the Baptist church and consecrated her life to His service. During her short illness she often expressed her entire resignation to the will of God and with joy would exclaim, "Bless the Lord, oh, my soul". It is sad to know that one so loved in the associations in life, one, who gave so much of sunshine to her own family circle, has been taken away by death. On earth, her soul was but in the bud. She went to a fairer clime, that she might blossom. She leaves a devoted husband, an infant child, an aged mother, kind brothers and sisters and many friends to mourn her loss, which to her, is eternal gain.
