Died, on the first day of October, 1864, at her residence seven miles northeast of Greensboro, MRS. NANCY CAROLINE FLINN, wife of Anderson Flinn, in the 40th year of her age. The deceased was a native of Alabama, and was born on the 8th day of October, 1824. Her maiden name was Barton. Her mother still lives. The disease of which she died was painful and protracted. Her sufferings were borne with patience and resignation. In recording the death of this estimable woman, it is due to her memory, and to those whom she has left to mourn her loss, to mention some of the more prominent traits in her character. Mrs. Flinn was remarkable for her energy, quick judgment, and practical good sense. She rarely failed of complete success in any thing she undertook. In her family she was frugal and industrious. She greatly excelled in the manufacture of many useful fabrics which the existing war has made necessary. In disposition Mrs. Flinn was meek, modest, amiable and affectionate. In the relations of wife, mother, friend and neighbor, her character was well nigh complete. To these good qualities she added the graces of the christian. She was for many years a consistant member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She has left nine children, who, while they cherish her memory, would do well to imitate her example.
