Edgefield Advertiser
Died of pneumonia on December 21, 1856, Mrs. Martha Rutland, wife of Mr. A. 
Rutland, in the 64th year of her age.  She died at the residence of her son in 
law, James White, where she was suddenly attacked and as suddenly died.  She 
was a member of the Baptist Church for 27 years and for a considerable length 
of time her membership has been with the Ridge Spring Church.  She leaves an 
aged husband, several children and grandchildren.  (February 18, 1857)
