Edgefield Advertiser
Died, at his father's residence in Edgefield District, on October 18, 1861, 
after a severe illness contracted at Camp Butler, 1st Lieutenant E. Watson 
Rutland, of the "Dearing Guards", 14th Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers, in 
the 37th year of his age.  He leaves an aged father, several sisters, and two 
brothers.  (November 20, 1861)
