Andrew married (1)Henrietta Marie Steward 1 Nov 1835, in Edgefield, S.C., the daughter of William and Sarah Steward. Henrietta was born abt. 1817 in S.C. and died February 1848 in Edgefield, S.C. Andrew married (2) Susan Pope Abney 28 Oct 1849, daughter of Jacob P. and Dolly Kirksey Abney. Susan was born 15 Dec 1826 in S.C., and died 30 Dec 1896 in Lee County, Mississippi. They were married at the home of John Kirksey,father of Dolly Kirksey. During the Civil War Andrew McCarty fought with the Confederacy enlisting in the 5th Regiment, Co. K, S.C. reserves by Captain Bettis. Following the devastation of the Civil War, Andrew McCarty and his family moved to Lee County, Mississippi. Andrew died 2 Jan 1893 in Lee County, Mississippi. Andrew and Susan are buried in the Boguefala Cemetery. The following children were born to Andrew and first wife, Henrietta Steward: Mary M. and William D. McCarty. Andrew and Susan McCarty had the following children: Louisiana (Laura) America, Joseph Ann Saluda, Henrietta Savannah, Christopher Columbus, Ida Seabille, Alda Jackson, and Morovia Bavaria McCarty.
