Contributed to The USGenWeb Archives by: Billie Jones 8 Oct 2002 ---------------------------------------- Will of HEZEKIAH BYRD [Box 34 pkg 1223], /w/July 14, 1808 /r/ Oct 7, 1808, Edgefield Co, SC In the Name of God Amen, I Hezekiah Bird of Edgefield Dist, and the State of SC bing sick in body tho of perfect mind and memory, doth dispose of what it hath pleased God to bless me with as follows: VIZ: My will and desire is that part of the perishable property of my Estate, be sold on a credit of twelve months, for the purpost of discharging all my just debts The remaining part of my Estate both Real and personal not before idsposed of I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Peggy Bird during her natural life , and at her death my will and desire is that my daughters Kitty P. Bird be pseest with the property then remains to she and her heirs forever. This I certify to be my last will and testament, revolking all others heretofore made by me, Lastly, I appoig my beloved wife Peggy Bird my whole and sole executrix of this, my last Will. In witness wehreof I have set my hand and seal this 14th day of July, 1808 Witnesses: Hezekiah Byrd (seal) Drury Adams Roger M. Williams Jacob Adams SC, District of Edgefield by John Simkins Ordinary: Personally appeared before my Drury Adams and Jacob Adams who being Duly sworn do make Oath and Say they were Present and Saw Hezekiah Byrd sign seal and deliver the within to be his last will and testament and that the said Hezikiah (sic) Byrd was them of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of this deponants knowledge.. Given under my hadn the 7th Oct 1808. Recorded in Will Book "A", p. 263, Oct 7, 1808 [Box 34, pkg 1223] Appraisal of the property of Hezekiah Byrd, 8th Oct 1808 shows a value of his property as $588.87. Most of that value was a Negro girl valued at $300.
