Probate Judge's office, Box 13, pkg 468 [as transcribed by Marie Keenan Olson and sent to Billie Jones in 1999] [It does not include any distribution or accounting as might be found in the original papers] SOUTH CAROLINA, Edgefield District: In the name of God Amen. I Jesse Holloway of the aforesaid State and District being of perfect memory and recollecting that it is appointed unto all men to die. Do make this my last will and testament first off I give and resign my body to God who gave it and to be buryed in deasant (sic) order 2nd I do give and bequeath to my son Jesse H. Holloway all that property given by sd Jesse H. Holloway to me in a deed of gift bearing date November the 20th 1817 to have & to hold himself and his heirs for ever. 3rd I do give and bequeath unto my two grand daughters Lucy & Betsey Bowles the sum of one hundred dollars each to be raised out of my estate and to be given to them separately at the age of twenty-one years or at their marriage and in case either of the sd girls should die without lawful issue of their body then and in that case it is my will that the above mentioned $200 should be equally divided among my then living children 4th It is my will that the balance of my estate both real and personal should be equally divided among my eight children namely my sons Perry, Dan, Jesse, Ransom and J. Meekins and my daughters Michal, Polly & Nancy(carried over] 5th I do hereby disannul and make void all other wills by me made or given and I do hereby appoint Jordan Holloway Perry Holloway and Ransom Holloway as Executor to execute the forgoing will. In witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand & seal this 30th March 1818 & in the 42nd year of American independence. These are to authorize and empower you, or any three or four of you, whose names are here under written, to repair to all such parts and places within this state, as you shall be directed unto by....Perry Holloway, Jordan Holloway, and Ransom Holloway of the goods and chattels, rights and credits of Jesse Holloway deceased, wheresoever any of the said goods and chattels are or do remain within the said parts and places, and which shall be shewn unto you by the said Perry. Jordan & Ransom and there view and appraise all and every the said goods and chattels, being first duly sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, to make a true and perfect inventory and appraisement thereof, and to cause the same to be returned under your hands, or any three or four of you, unto the said Perry, Jordan and Ransom on or before the twelfth day of June next. Sanders Rarden ) Caleb Holloway ) MEMORANDUM: That on the eighteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen personally appeared before me Robert Walker one of the justices assigned to keep the peace in and for the District of Edgefield, John, Caleb Holloway and [John Kirksey - drawn through] Sanders Riordan being three of the appraisers appointed to appraise the qoods and chattels of Jesse Holloway late of sd District, deceased, who being duly sworn, made oath, that they would make a just and true appraisement of all and singular, the goods and chattels of the said Jesse Holloway, deceased, as shall be produced by the Exrs of the estate of the said deceased, and that they would return the same, certified under their hands, unto the said Executors on or before the twelfth day of June next.
