I Thomas Kirkland of Edgefield County, [District] of Ninety Six and State of South Carolina farmer being weak in body but perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my [life] knowing it is appointed for all men once to die. Make and order this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and Remind my soul into the hands of God that first gave it unto my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I will Rise the same again by the mighty power of God and as ___ such worldly Estate herewith it faith pleased God to help me with in this life and dispose of in manner and form following. I give the Plantation I [now live] on to my well beloved wife Lucy Kirkland contain of one hundred and fifty acres of land During her natural life. I give all of my personal estate to my well beloved wife Lucy Kirkland and if my son Levi Kirkland should die without heirs my will is that this land shall be equally divided between my three daughters Cora Kirkland, Lucy Kirkland and Tammy Kirkland.
