All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/sc/scfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sharon Moore mathew_brady@msn.com May 24, 2015, 4:24 am Source: Edgefield Co., South Carolina Index Of Wills Vol. 1, Page 133, Typescript Written: December 24, 1838 Recorded: February 18, 1840 Will of Creswell Moore South Carolina Edgefield District In the name of God Amen this the twenty fourth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Eight, and in the Sixty third year of American Indendence, I Creswell Moore of the District of Edgefield and State aforesaid, being in perfect mind and memory, but low in health, and calling to mind the mortality of boddy and knowing that it is appointed for all omce to die, I do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following, that is to say, I give my soul into the hands of God that gave it me, and my body to the earth to be decently buryed in a Christian like manner, nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to blefs me with in this life I give and bequeath in the manner following, Viz, Its my will that all my lawful debts be paid, Item I lend to my loving wife Mary Moore during her life time the following named negros and property, viz, harry, Sam, Lewis, Silvy, Hannah Harriet, Charles, Miles, Huldah and Susan, also the Tract of Land I live on, Also the Balance of the store House Tract after taking off one Hundred and Eighty nine and a half Acres, Also one other Tract lying on CufferTown Creek containing three hundred and Twenty eight Acres, adjoining George W Hollowway and others, Also four head Horses, Waggon and Geer, Black smith Tools, plantation Tools, five Beds and furniture, Household and Kitchen furniture, my stock of Hogs and Cattle and my present crop of Corn and fodder, Item all the property both real and personal, that I loaned to my beloved wife Mary Moore, at her Death it is my will and desire should be appraised and equally divided by three or five disinterested appraisers, One half I Give to my Son John C Moore and his bodily heirs, Item the other half I leave in Trust with my son John C Moore for the use and better maintainance of Williamson Williams and Eliza Ann Williams his wife dureing their natural lives, and at their deaths, with its future Increase, to be equally divided among the Bodily heirs of Said Williamson and Eliza, and it is my will and desire that my son John C Moore permit Williamson Williams and Eliza Ann Williams to enjoy one half of my estate after the death of my beloved wife Mary Moore, dureing their natural lives, but not to be subject to pay any debt of debts contracted by said Williamson, or in any manner or way interupted by any Person or Persons, in any manner or way whatever so that thes aid Williamson and Eliza shall enjoy it the same as if I was alive and loaned it to them, Lastly I nominate and appoint John C Moore Exutor and Trustee of this my last will and Testament disannuling and making void all other Instruments of writing heretofore by me made, and pronouncing this to be my last will and Testament Signed, Sealed and Delivered--------- Creswell Moore (SEAL) G F Rushton Joseph Ruston Turner Harris Recorded in Will Book “D” Page 102-3 Recorded February 18, 1840 O.
