Feb 10th 1800 [sic] ***************** In the Name of God Amen The seventeenth of August Eighteen Hundred and four I Elizabeth Thurman of the State of South Carolina Edgefield District, being aged and weak in Body, But of perfect mind and memory, Thanks be given unto God: Therefore calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, that is to say First. I give and bequeath unto my Son Gutridge Thurman Fifteen Dollars and a blew check Counterpain. Item. I give unto my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Cheatham one Bed quilt. Item. I give unto my Daughter Frances Lyon one Sheat, & five Dollars. Item. I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth Cheatham One Sheat. Item. I give unto my Daughter Susannah Boid One Sheat. Item. I give unto my Daughter Agnes Tillory One Sheat and Trunk. Item. I give unto my Daughter Ann Tally One Sheat. Item. I give unto my Daughter Rachel Moss One Sheat. It is also my Will and desire that my Feather Bed and all the Remainder of my bed Clothes not before given to be Equally divided among all my Daughters before named and my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Cheatham. Item. I give unto my Son John Thurman Five Dollars. Item. I Leave all the Remainder of my Estate not before given both real and personal to be equally Divided among all my Children to them and their heirs forever viz., Frances Lyon, Elizabeth Cheatham, Gutridge Thurman, Susannah Boid, John Thurman, Agness Tillory, Ann Tally, Philip Thurman, Rachel Moss & William Thurman. As my Daughter Agnes Tillory has drawed out of my Estate Two Hundred and four Dollars Twenty five cents for which there is a note given for the same and should not my Daughter Agnes pay up the sd. Money before my death it is my will and desire That Sum of Two Hundred and four Dollars Twenty five cents should be deducted out of her p...[torn] of my Estate before willed. THESE are to authorize and empower you, or any three or four of you, whose names are here underwritten, to repair to all such parts and places within this state, as you shall be directed unto by Philip Thurman Executor, of the goods and chattels, rights and credits, of Elizabeth Thurman -- late of the said district, deceased, wheresoever any of the said goods and chattels are or do remain within the said parts and places, and which shall be shewn unto you by the said Philip Thurman and there view and appraise all and every the said goods and chattels, being first duly sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, to make a true and perfect inventory and appraisement thereof, and to cause the same to be returned under your hands, or any three or four of you, unto the said Philip Thurman on or before the Twenty third day of August now next ensuing.
