Keith Midgette 4 Nov 2002 ---------------------------------------- EDGEFIELD CO WILL BOOK E, Pages 234-236 Mrs Mary Towles Will South Carolina Edgefield District I Mary Towles Widow of Oliver Towles, being of Sound And disposing mind and memory, do make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other Wills previously made by me. 1st. I direct all my just debts to be paid. 2nd. I willa dn bequeath to my Grand Son Philemon Waters Four Hundred Dollars, and should he die without leaving a child Surviving him, then I direct that the said money be equally divided between my children Mary Wever, Elvira Scurry, Eliza Payne & Ralph Towles. 3rd. I will and bequeath to my Grand daughter Sarah G. Dozier Two hundred dollars and should she die without leaving a child surviving her then I direct that the money be equally divided between my children Mary Wever, Elvira Scurry, Eliza Payne & Ralph Towles. 4th. I will and bequeath to my grandson Layfaette Towles Wever, one hundred dollars for the purpose of buying him a horse. 5th. I will to my son Ralph Towles the following Negro Viz, Wash, Maria, Scott and Berry, as also the Tract of Land whereon I now reside, containing three hundred acres, together with my household and kitchen furniture, also all of the stock of horses, mules, cattle & hogs, together with all of the corn, fodder, oats, wheat, Bacon and all the provisions that may be on hand at he time of my death. I will and bequeath the above described property to my son Ralph Towles during the term of his natural life, and at his death to his lawfully begotten children, but should he die leaving no child surviving him, my desire is that the said property be equally divided between my other children, Elvira Scurry, Mary Wever, & Eliza Payne share and share alike. 6th. I will and bequeath to my sonin law Ridley M. Scurry for the Sole and Separate use, benefit & behoof of my daughter Mary Wever, Three negros, Viz, Harriett and Mary & her child Adaline Together with their future increase which said Negroes are now in her possession, and are also Secure to her by Separate deeds of gifts to my Said son in law R.M. Scurry. 7th. To my daughter Eliza Payne I will and bequeath a Negro boy named Jasper. 8th. To my daughter Elvira Scurry, I will and bequeath a Negro boy Andrew. 9th. I will and bequeath all the balance of my Estate both Real & Personal to my two daughters Elvira Scurry & Eliza Payne- Share and Share alike- and it is my will and desire that the shares of my two daughters in this clause named and also the two negroes given & willed to my daughter Mary Wever be their Sole & Separate Estate, and I further direct that if either of my children Elvira, Mary or Eliza should die without leaving a child or children living at the time of their death that the share of the one so dying shall be divided Equally between the Survivors, and the child or children of any one of them who may have died- the child or children of the one So dying to take the shar that the parent would have taken if living. 10th. I hereby nominate, Constitute & appoint my sons in law Ridley M Scurry & Richard Payne Executors of this my last will.
