First I desire that my grandson Enesley & my granddaughter Emaline Lott minor children of Enesley Lott decd to have a certain Negro man named Prince also one bed & furniture each extra to what the balance of my heirs. The balance of my estate to be disposed of as follows I desire that the heirs of my son Enesley decd that he had by his first wife Silvey do have one share... I desire that the heirs of my son Jesse decd do have one share... I desire that the heirs of my dtr Winnefred Bettis do have one share... I desire that Mary Drake and Martha Frazier dtrs of Benj. Frazier do have the share that would come to their mother if she had lived.. I desire that Elyah and Elisha Bettis sons of Stephen Bettis decd do have one share and I do appoint my grandson John Lott as my executor and for him to keep the above Negro named Prince as a compensation for boarding his brother Enesley & sister Emaline unti l they come of age then the said Negro to be their property . CODICIL...I desire that before any division of my estate is made that my two Negroes named George & Phillis be given as vis: George I give to John Lott & his heirs forever and Phillis I give unto Mary Drake the dtr of Benjamin Drake to her forever. Will of Sarah Lott, Edgefield County, SC Recorded in Will Book C, pgs 345-346 Recorded September 28, 1831 In the name of God, Amen--- I, Sarah Lott, of the state of South Carolina and the District of Edgefield, being in a low state of health, but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God. Calling to mind this mortability of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all persons once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth, to be buried in a decent Christian manner at the discretion of my friends, and as touching such worldly estate where with it has pleased god to bless me in the life I give and demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form- First of all I desire my grandson Emsley and my granddaughter, Emaline Lott, minor children of Emsley Lott, dec'd, d o have a certain Negro man by the name of Primus, also one bed and furniture each extra to what the balance of my heirs do have. The balance of my property to be disposed of as follows, to wit: I desire that the heirs of my son Emsley, dec'd, that he had by his first wife, Silvey, do have one share. Second. I desire that the heirs of my son Jesse, dec'd do have one share. Third. I desire that the heirs of my daughter, Winnefred Bettis do have one share. Fourth. I desire that Mary drake and Martha Frazier, daughter of Benjamin Frazier, do have the share that would be coming to there Mother if she had lived. Fifth. I desire that Elizabeth and Elisha Betty, Sons of Stephen Bettis, dec'd do have one share and I do appoint my grand son John Lott, my soul executor of this my last Will and Testament and for him to keep the above named Primus as a compensation for boarding his brother, Emisly and Sister Emaline until they come of age. Then the said Negro to be their property and I do make void all other Wills declaring this to be my last. In witness whereof I set my hand and seal this the 16th day , July, one thousand eight hundred and thirty one and in the fifty sixth year of the American Independence. Cogburn George (X) Watkins his mark Sarah (X) Lott (SEAL) Isaac Bush her mark A codicil to the forgoing will- I will and desire that before any division of my estate is made between the legatees, that two Negroes to wit, George and Philliss be taken out tho one, to wit, George, I give and bequeath unto John Lott to him and his heirs and assigns forever and the other, Phillis, I give and bequeath to Mary Drake, a daughter of Benjamin Frazier to her and her assigns forever, they two Negroes I give to the said John Lott and Mary Drake, respectively, over and above their share in the division of my estate, and the said Negroes are not to be valued in any settlement of division of my estate-In witness where of I set my hand and seal this the twenty seventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred and thirty one and in the fifty sixth year of the American Independence.
