Bk O P. 321 State of South Carolina Know all men by these presents that I John KENNAN, planter in the District of Chester & state aforesaid of the one part and James MARR of the state and district aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said John KENNAN, for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to me in hand paid have granted bargained sold and by these presents doth bargain & sell unto the said James MARR one certain plantation or track of land containing one hundred & forty five acres of land long pate? Of one hundred & seventy acres originally granted to Ann? MCDOWL date the seventh of March 1795 Witness his Excellency the Governor Anc---? VANDERHOFT the land being in the district of Fairfield and state aforesaid the waters of Watree on the road leading from Winnsborough joins N W on Ann NEELS/NOELS? Land S E on Jonathon BELTON S E on Jean CARDINS land N on James MARRS land and hath such shape --- mark as reference being had to a plat hereunto annexed will more fully and at large appear To have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said James MARR his heirs and assigns forever and I the said John KENNAN do hereby bind myself my heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said James MARR his heirs and assigns against myself my heirs and assigns and every person or persons claiming the same? Or any part. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal the 26th day of October 1803 Signed: John KENON, (seal) Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Hugh LAVENDER State of South Carolina I, David Read EVANS one of the ------ of the Division of Fairfield District do certify unto all whom it may concern that Ann KENAN wife of the within KENNEN did this day appear before me and upon being privily & separately examined by me did declare that she does freely voluntarily without my comfort from dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever renounce release & forever relinquish unto the within named James MARR his Heirs & assigns all her interest and estate & also all her right & claims of Dower & in or to all and singular the premises within mentioned and released.
