Items in brackets are my comments.] State of S.C....Fairfield District .....I James Austen of the town of Winnsborough, being fully possessed of my former portion of knowledge and memory, do constitute this my last will and Testament, and desire it to be recorded as such by all that it may concern, that is after all my debts are paid, that all which Remain shall be equally divided in three shairs, that is to my beloved wife, my son, Joseph and my daughter Susannah, Save on the tract of land which lyes on Bear Creek, that i leave to my son William, and my daughter Agnes....and for the Superentendence, and management o the above , i constitute and impowel according to the laws of the state, my Executors David Reed Evins and Jesse Harris......Given under my hand and seal this 12th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-six, and in the twenty and first year of a Maracas Independins.
