He was the son of John Frederick Ham and Malissa Roxand (Roxie) Doyle. He married Rose Jane Lee, she was the daughter of Owen F. Lee and Sarah Elizabeth Watford After his wife Rose died he married her nurse Dora. He and his wife Rose Jane Lee, are buried at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery in Florence Co., SC. They had only one child; Mamie, she was born, 21 Oct 1912 and died 21 Oct. 1912 she is also buried at Salem Methodist Church Cemetery in Florence Co., SC.
