All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/sc/scfiles.htm ************************************************ Contributed for use in SCGenWeb Archives by: Linda Blum-Barton lab56@bellsouth.net May 22, 2006 Barton Tract, Mountain Creek of Enoree River Written: November 20, 1868 Recorded: January 1, 1869 Greenville County, SC Deed Book BB Pg 220 M R Barton Etal Agreement State of South Carolina Greenville County Know all men by these presents that we the undersigned have this day divided a tract of land known as the Barton tract Situate in the county and state aforesaid on Mountain Creek of Enoree river containing seven hundred and fifty one acres more or less upon the following conditions namely that one Marcus R Barton upon his part has agreed to take the portion of land as described by his plat drawn by W A Hudson the 5th day of July 1865 except the house and lot of thirteen acres which is shown on his plat and further agrees to pay the Said James G. Barton Seventy five dollars for the land he has over his proportional part. The Said H M Barton upon his part has agreed to take the portion of land as designated by his plat drawn by W. A. Hudson 5th day of July 1865. and further agrees to pay the Said James G. Barton One Hundred Dollars for the land he has over his proportional part. The said James G. Barton upon his part has agreed to take the portion of land as designated by his plat was drawn the 5th day of July 1865 by W A Hudson they have agreed to give each other possession of this land by the first day of January 1869 and one is not to interfear with the land of another and do hereby bind themselves at a proper time to give to each other a good and lawful deed to the land above named. The said land at this time belongs to Elizabeth Galloway their Mother and willed by Shapley Barton at her death to his three Sons Marcus, Hugh and James.
