F.M. "FRANK" BECKHAM
Francis M. "Frank" Beckham III, 61, of Myrtle Beach, died Tuesday.  Born in 
Columbia, he was a son of Mrs. Maud Guthrie Beckham and the late Francis M. 
Beckham, Jr.  He was recreation director for the city of Myrtle Beach since 
1951 and a member of First United Methodist Church where he had served as a 
Scout master.  He was also a member of Myrtle Beach Masonic Lodge No. 353 and 
the American Legion.
Mr. Beckham was one of the organizers of Associated Charities of Myrtle Beach 
having served as its president for three terms.
He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was active in youth 
baseball, having received the Danny Jones Award in 1980 from the S.C. Dixie 
Youth Baseball and four years on its national board.  He was named 
Professional of the Year in 1978 by the South Carolina Recreation and Parks 
Society.  He was a Marine veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Anne Bell Beckham; sons, Francis M. "Frank" IV, 
Thomas G. and John D. Beckham of Myrtle Beach and Warren O. Beckham of 
Atlanta; his mother of Pomaria; brothers, Bishop William A. Beckham of Pomaria 
and Dr. Louis E. Beckham of Florence; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wofford, Mrs. 
Smilie Mundel and Mrs. Daisy Zeider of Pomaria; and grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 
with burial in Oceanwoods Memorial Cemetery.
The body is at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to William Lee Research Fund, in care of the Medical 
University of South Carolina or First United Methodist Church.
