The name of Private John Preston Booth of R. F. D. No. 1, Allen, S. C. appeared in a list as published last week, showing that he died of wounds received while fighting overseas. Horry Herald January 30, 1919 Died in France John Preston Booth, son of Izzie Dora Booth and Olin F. Booth, brother to Boyd Booth, Samuel Booth, and Mrs. D.A. Allen. One preceded him to the grave. John was a solider true to his country and colors. He was in active service when he received a wound from which he died. He was a consecrated Chrisitan, a member of Poplar Church. He was about twenty-four years old at his death. He was an obedient son, one that never flinched from duty. He is sleeping over yonder, In some grave beyond the sea; Some sweet day we hope to meet him Where trouble and sorrows can never be. He was slain in active service, Standing bravely at his post; In that great day we hope to find him. Marching with God’s Heavenly host.
