A. J. Duncan was burn July 30th 1856, and was married to Miss M. L. Wade, October 10th 1890. Joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Pleasant Grove October 1889, and was baptized by Rev. P. Milliken. In 1892 he moved his membership to Beulah Church but in 1898 he brought it back to Pleasant Grove where he remained a member until his death. Brother Duncan was true to his church; and his heart and hands were ever open to the calls of the suffering and afflicted and in promoting the cause of the Master. To know Bro. Duncan was to love him. He was know for his thoughtfulness, honesty, and upright life, His church, community and neighbors will miss him. He leaves a wife and four sons to mourn their loss, but we believe that our loss is his gain. Bro. Duncan attended the Buck Creek Union in August as a delegate from Iron Hill, and on his return home took his bed with typhoid fever. The well known and skillful physician, Dr. Watson, was called to treat his case, but with all attention of the doctor and loving wife and kind friends could do could not stay the disease and the angel of death claimed the gentle, tender, trusting spirit of Bro. Duncan as his own. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. P. Bullock, at the graveyard know as the “Hardee Graveyard,” where a large congregation met to pay their last sad tribute to the departed one and to comfort the bereaved family. May the good Lord give his Holy Spirit as a comforter and guide to the bereaved wife and children is the prayer of their pastor. C. P. Bullock Additional Comments: Andrew J.
