H. Vaught and took from them their little niece, Ama Vaught Elkes. She was three years and two months old. She was sick only eight days with that dreadful disease, diphtheria. Oh, how hard we worked and prayed for her precious little life to the spared, but all that loving hearts, willing hands and the good physician could do could not save her. The good Lord knew best and took her to live Him. Little Ama was a bright child and was loved by all who knew her. She leaves a father, one brother, two sisters, and a host of relatives to mourn their loss. But while we mourn Ama darling, we know you are a bright little angel in the golden city above with you Mamma who went to heaven on June 24, 1912. What a glorious meeting when Aunt Delia saw little Ama coming in at the pearly gates and went out to meet her. She would hold up her hands the day she died and beg us all to go up with her. Ama dear, how we do miss you, how we long to hear your little footsteps and your sweet little voice once more. She was laid to rest by her mother at Socastee Methodist Church Nov. 2 Rev. A. D. Betts of Conway conducted the funeral service.
