J. Faircloth One of Town’s Most Prominent Citizens Passes at Age of 89. By Phone to The Robesonian. Rowland, Aug. 25.-Funeral services were conducted from Ashpole Presbyterian church, of which he was a member, at 11 a. m. today by Rev. J. M. Lemmon, pastor, assisted by Rev. L. A. McLaurin, pastor of Rowland Presbyterian church, for Mr. W. J. Faircloth, one of the oldest and most popular citizens of the town, who died at his home here early Wednesday morning. Mr. Faircloth had been in poor health for several months and had been in bed for a year and a half. Had he lived until October, he would have been 90 years old. Surviving are 4 daughters and 2 sons: Mrs. David Walters, Miss Kate, Messrs. John A. and David F. Faircloth of Rowland; Mrs. Troy West, Burlington; Mrs. W. R. Britt, Conway, S. C. Additional Comments: William James Faircloth, born October 15, 1842 at Little River, Horry County, South Carolina; died August 24, 1932 at Rowland, Rowland Township, Robeson County, North Carolina. He was a son of Jno. Alvin Faircloth and Martha Pearce Faircloth, both of South Carolina. He married Mariah Wade on May 26, 1872 in Cumberland County, North Carolina, married by Wiley M.
