E. Hardwick, Judge of Probate for Horry County died at his residence here, on last Monday morning just before the hour of seven, after an illness of several weeks, in the 72nd year of his age. He was elected Judge of Probate in 1884, and held the office continually from then until his death. Kind and accommodating to all, he was a popular county officer, and was reelected many times without opposition. He was twice married; first, to Miss A. C. Roberts, second to Mrs. Mary Cannon, who with one child, and children of the first marriage survive him. The funeral took place at 10 o’clock on Tuesday at the Methodist Church, attended by a large gathering of his relatives and friends. He loved a devoted member of the Methodist church. His death creates a vacancy in the office of Judge of Probate, and an election will have to be ordered to fill the vacancy. Whether the candidates will be nominated by primary of convention simply is not decided.
