Singleton Death of Good Citizen Richard B. Singleton, a highly esteemed citizen of Socastee, died at his home March 26, having had a slight stroke of paralysis a few days previous. He was nearly seventy years of age and a veteran of the Civil War. He served in Company E, 26th South Carolina Regiment. Another old solider has answered the roll call from above. He was married March 22, 1877 to Miss Elizabeth King, who survives him. There is also a daughter Mrs. W. E. Dusenbury of Toddville and a son, Sam G. Singleton of Socastee. The deceased was a member of Socastee Methodist Church and lived an exemplary life, loved by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted by the pastor, M. W. Cook.
