H. Stroud, died at his home here on his sixty-sixth birthday, Friday, May 16th. Rev. A. T. Rodgers, who was his pastor, preached the funeral sermon at the home on the following day. His remains were then taken to the Loris cemetery and laid to rest in the presence on a large number of relatives and friends. He was stricken with paralysis on Sunday before his death. Four doctors attended him, still all that loving hands could do could not stay the icy hands of death. He was born in Horry County, near Nichols, S. C., where he lived for a number of and was engaged in the mercantile business. He later moved to Gurley and from there he moved to Conway. In the early Spring on 1918 he moved to Loris and was still doing business in the J. E. Prince old store. In early life he joined the Baptist Church at Cedar Creek. His membership was later transferred to the Loris Baptist church. He leaves to mourn our loss a wife and four sons: Otto and Odell, who are in overseas service: Gettie and Bob were by beside when he passed away. He proved to be successful in all his business dealings and made many friends where ever he lived. He was a good citizen neighbor. While the family was separated in this life may we live so that day where partings will be no more and where Sabbaths will have no end. His loving son, Gettie P.
