Ira Sweet Vereen

Mr. Ira Sweet Vereen died at his home at Bear Bluff, January 13th, at 5 
o’clock a. m. with typhoid fever. He was born on the 21st day of April 1878 
and died January 12th, 1901, age 22 years 9 months and 8 days, and was the son 
of Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Vereen. He has been sick since a few days before 
Christmas, but not thought to be dangerous until a short time ago. All was 
done by loving hands and medical skill for his relief by all to no response. 
He was a young man beliked by his neighbors, and was just in the bloom of 
manhood, but alas, our Heavenly Father in His all wise providence saw fit to 
take him from time to eternity. He leaves a father, mother, three brothers, 
and four sisters to mourn his departure. His remains were interred in the 
family cemetery at Bear Bluff on Monday 14th inst., about 1 o’clock to await 
the resurrection morning. The sympathy of the entire community goes out on 
behalf of the grief stricken family.
