B. Watts crossed the chilly river of death to take his place in the realms beyond. He was born, lived and died in the dear old county of Horry. A man of fortitude and patience, a good citizen, a loving husband, a devoted father, a worthy church member, and a true brother is gone. He leaves a loving wife, 5 children, 3 grandchildren and a large number of near relatives and friends to mourn over his departure. He was true to his friends, and we miss him. We miss his cordial greeting, his kindly smile, and his friendly handshake. He loved his family. Long will be remembered the kind care and affection he showed for his loving wife. Life meant to him service and helpfulness. No one in want was ever turned from him. He attended church and Sunday School and was always found in the front ranks doing his part to make his school, church, home and home life better. He served as trustee of the Watts School for many years. This place he filled nobly and well until his death. The Watts School as it stands out today as one of the leading schools in the county owes a great deal to the untiring and never failing efforts of Mr. Bird Watts. The community was so profoundly shocked and deeply grieved at his death that the pupils of his school wish to offer a tribute of respect to him. The following resolutions were adopted and read by one of the pupils at the close of commencement: Friends, one and all, on me tonight is resting the serious honor of offering a token of respect to our departed friend, neighbor, and trustee, Mr. H. B. Watts. Just a few weeks ago, God called him home from our midst, a plain, cheerful good natured gentleman.
