The town was burned by Sherman's army in 1865. It was hard so very hard to give him up and we do miss him so much but even in this hour of deepest grief we find comfort in the thought that while his death just in the bloom of life as it were is our loss and has left in our poor hearts an aching void it is also God's gain. It is our fervent prayer that we may lead such lives that when we are called to leave this world of care we will meet our dear boy in the better world where there will be no parting no sorrow and no more tears.
