Will of Vincent DAVIS
State of South Carolina

“In the name of God Amen I Vincent Davis of York District being of sound & 
disposing mind and memory do make & ordain this my last will & testament in 
manner and form following viz

1st I will and direct that a sufficient portion of my personal estate be hold 
for the payment of my debts & funeral expenses-

2nd I will and bequeath to each of my daughters viz Elizabeth Davis, mary 
Davis, Sarah Davis & Catharine Davis one horse and one cow & calf to be 
delivered to them when they marry.

I have already given my other daughters their shares.

3d.  All the rest & residue of my estate both real & personal I will bequeath 
& devise to be equally divided between my two sons Joseph G. Davis & Benjamin 
F. Davis to them and their heirs forever.  

But I will and direct that my wife shall remain on my plantation and be 
supported by my sons out of the profits thereof for and during her natural 
life or widow hood.

Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son Joseph G. Davis 
Executor of this my last will & testament.  

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 15th day of 
November A D 1852

Vincent Davis (L.S.)

Signed sealed & acknowledged by the said Vincent Davis as & for his last will 
& testament in our presence who subscribed our names at witnesses in his 
presence & in presence of each other
