Will of Solomon Fuller, of Laurens District, South Carolina

“IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN.  I Solomon Fuller of South Car lina Laurens District 
being of Sound and disposing mind and memory blessed be God do this 26th day 
of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Sixteen 
make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is 
to say

1st	I give to my Son Avent Fuller One Negro man named Charles

2nd	I give to my Son Solomon Fuller One Negro woman Isbel,

3rd	I give to my son William Fuller One Negro woman named Fiviby and her 
two children Bluford and Charles,

4th	I give to my son John Fuller One Negro mand named Janes [James?] 

5th	I give to my son Ransom Fuller One negro woman named Tabb One Negro 
man named Frederick, and one Negro boy Ferry, but I lend the said Negro woman 
Tabb to my beloved wife Gilley Fuller during her life or remains my widow,

6th	I give to my son Alsey Fuller One negro boy named Stephen, One negro 
boy names Lewis and one negro boy named Andrew, and one feather bed, 

I also give to my sons Ransom and Alsey, all my Tract of land the west wide of 
my Spring Branch runing up to ny son Avent’s line, to Ransom, and the East 
side to Alsey,

7th	I lend to my daughter Charlotte Fuller one negro boy named Willis one 
negro boy named George and one negro girl named Isbel, during her natural life 
and at her death to be equally divided among all her children 

8th	I lend to my daughter Sarah Coleman one negro woman named Amy and her 
five [word ‘-----‘ struck out] children, Bob Dick, Phebe, Peter, and Charles 
during her natural life, and then to be equally divided among all her (the Sd. 
Sarah Coleman’s) children,

9th	I lend to my grand daughter Gilley A. Green one negro girl named Nance 
and one negro boyn named Frank during her natural life, and then to be equally 
devided among all her children, if she should have any and if none, then to be 
equally divided among all my children. 

I appoint my wife to keep the property of Gilley a Green until she marries or 
becomes twenty one years old, and if my wife dies before that time for my sons 
Solomon and Alsey to take care of the sd. Gilley A. Green and her property 
until the time of her death, marriage or becomes twenty one

10th	I give to my son in law William Green….” [End of page One]

“…twenty shillings sterling 

11th	I lend to my beloved wife One negro man named Dick one negro woman 
named Rose, one negro boy named Isaac, one negro boy Jacob and one negro boy 
named Dave, one negro boy named Ben one negro boy named Jack during her 
natural life or she remains my widow 

I likewise lend her all my goods and chattels lands, Stock and every other 
article during her life or my widow, 

I want my negro man Harry to chose when [transcriber’s note:probably, ‘where’] 
he will live if they will take him, if not to be set up to the lowest bidder 
and to be maintained out of my Estate And at the death or marriage of my wife, 
I want all the negroes I lend her to be equally divided among my children, 
VIZ, Solomon, William, John, Charlotte and Sarah, and all the rest of the 
property to be equally divided among all my children.

I do hereby make and ordain my beloved wife Gilley Fuller, and my Son Solomon 
Fuller Executors to this my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have 
hereunto Set my hand and seal the day and date above written

Signed, Sealed, published and declared by the Testator as his last Will and 
Testament in presents of us, who were present at the Signing and Sealing 
thereof
