Contributed to The USGenWeb Archives by: Debra Crosby 13 Feb 2002 ---------------------------------------- Marion County SC (Prince George District) Deed 1793 Benjamin Blackman This indenture made this twentieth day of John Turner Junr September in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred & ninty three & in the sevententh year of the soverignty & independance of the United States of America between John Turner Junr of the parish of Prince George in the District of George Town in the state of South Carolina planter of the one part & Benjamin Blackmon of the same place planter of the other part whereas the legislature of the state by authority entitled a grant under the great seal of the said State bearing date the sixth day of Febuary left? past & tested by His Excelency Charles Pinkney Esquire Governor & Commander in Chief in & over the aforesaid state did give & grant unto the said Benjamin Blackman his heirs & assigns a certain plantation or tract of land containing eleven hundred & eighty six acres situate on Catfish Swamp bounded by lines running N.E., S.E., S.W. & N.W by land surveyed for John Sanders; S. W. by land surveyed for Thomas Hulen; N.E., S. E. by land surveyed for John Sanders Hugh Giles & Harrison Lucas bearing such shapes found & marked as are represented by a part to the aforsaid grant annexed to hold? to the said Benjamin Blackman his heirs & assigns forever ?? & by the said grant recorded in the secretary's office of the state in Book B No. 5 page 130 relation thereunto being has? may more fully appear & at large appear whereas the said Benjamin Blackman for & in consideration of the sum of eleven pounds sterling lawfully current money of the aforesaid state to him in hand paid by the aforesaid John Turner Junr all & singular before the sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is here by acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold alien?? remain? convey & conform and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien?? remade?? convey and conform unto him the aforesaid John Turner Junr his heirs & assigns all that part or parcel of the aforesaid plantation & tract of land by agrement containing one hundred & ninety five acres more or less & being the part belonging to the said Benjamin Blackman & being situated on the south side of Catfish beginning at to pines 3X ?? bay running thence souwesterly coners to upon seperate pines marked 3X ?? bay from thence running N W unto pine 3 X ?? thence N E to atopot??? thence to a large pine from thence divided by a strate line to the two pines marked 3X ?? bay at the beginning having such shapes & forms as appear by the aforesaid plat doth fully & at large appear to have & to hold the aforesaid bargained land & premises together with all and singular the priviledges profits improvements here determined & appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise apertaining to the said John Turner Junr his heirs & assigns forever & he the said Benjamin Blackman for himself & for his heirs doth covenant & promise & agree to & with the said John Turner Junr his heirs & assigns the right from any person claiming or to claim by from or under him them or any of them old surveys or pryor grant or titles excepted & no ways culpable to warrant nor defend further than the aforesaid personal grant shall entitle him the said Benjamin Blackman his heirs or assigns or any of the person by them assigned.
