John Phillips South Carolina This indenture made the twenty seventh day of October one thousand seven hundred & ninty seven between Rubin Heartfield & Sarah Heartfield his wife of George Town Dist. of little pee dee planter in the state afsd. on the other part and Jock E. John Phillips of Liberty County of the other part witnesseth the sd. Rubin Hartfield & Sarah Hartfield his wife for & in consideration of the sum of ten shillings current money of the sd. state to them in hand well & truly paid by the sd. Jock E John Phillips at & before the sealing & delivery thereof the receipt whereof is here by acknledged hath bargained & sold & by these present doth bargain & sell unto the sd. Jock E. John Phillips his excutors administrators & assigns a certain tract of land containing nin hundred & sixteen acres more or less & six hundred of the sd. land was granted to Thos. Lehre bearing date the fifth day March in the year of our Lord one thousand & Eighty seven & sold unto sd. Abraham Markby by sd. Thos. Lehre by indenture bearing date in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Eight seven recorded in the registers office book Z No. 5 page 266 to 268 & sold unto Josua lewis by Abraham Markby bearing date the twenty seventh day of March one thousand seven hundred & ninty & recorded Registers Office Book B page 361 to 362 & also a tract of land that Josiah Lewis run & was granted to him the sixth day of July one thousand seven hun= dred & Eighty Eight & recorded in grant book NN per page 286 & hath such shapes & forms as the plat annexed to the grant sold from Josuah Lewis to Rubin hartfield the eight day of March one thousand seven hundred & ninty four together with all singular the gardens or orchards fences ways wells watercourses easments profits commodities advantages anoluments heredetamints & appurtenances what soever to the said plantation as tracts of land belonging or in any wise appertaining & revission & revissions remainder & remainders thereof & every part & parsel there of to have & to hold the sd. plantation or tract of land & all & singular or other the premises in before mentioned & intended to be here by bargained & sold & every part & parcel thereof with these & every of their appertenances unto the sd. Jock E. John Phillips or his heirs Excutors administrators & assigns from the day of the date to these presents for & during the full time & un =to the full corse & term of one whole year frm thence next ensuing & fully to be compleated & candid yielding & paying therefore unto the Ruben hartfield his Executors or administrators the rent of one peper corn only on the last day of the said term if the same shall lawfully demande to the intent & purposes that the sd. Jock E John Phillips by virtue hereof & by force of the statute for tranfering of use in possession may be in the actual possession of the premises here in before mentioned & intended to be hereby bargained & every part & parcell thereof with their & every of their appurtenances & may be hereby Enabled receipt of the said parties to these presents have here unto Interchargeable set their hands & seals the day & year first above written there is to be reserved the fifteent sixteenth part of a acre reserved for a burying ground for to bury Josiah Lesises family and not to be interupted of that when wanting Reuben Heartsfield Sarah Heartsfield Seal & delivered in the presents of Josiah Lewis Phillip Phillips Thomas Phillips Recorded 4th day of August 1806 & examined by Saml.
