EVAN HUGGINS Dr. Evan Huggins was born in Marion County South Carolina, November the 25th 1817 and died at his residence in Horry County, July the 19th 1879. Dr. Huggins joined the Methodist Church in early life, and remained a devoted and useful member of the same until death. In his death the church has lost one of its strongest pillars; his neighbors a kind and obliging friend, his family an irrepairable [sic] loss. Yet they sorrow not as those without hope, feeling that their loss is his eternal gain. Brother Huggins was sorely afflicted for eight months; yet he murmured not at the dispute of Providence, but bore his afflictions without a murmer, believing that they would work out for him a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory in the world to come! On one occasion he called his wife and children around his bedside and told them that he was going to Heaven, and exhorted them to meet him there. May the blessings of God rest upon the widow with her fourteen fatherless children and may they at last meet in Heaven to enjoy with the Sainted husband and father the rest that remains to the people of God. Dearest father thou hast left us, Here they loss we deeply feel But ‘tis God that hath bereft us He can all our sorrows heal. Southern Christian Advocate and Telephone please copy. LEWIS SCARBOROUGH
