State of South Carolina)
Know all men by these presents that I David MONTGOMERY of Marlborough District 
and State aforesaid merchant for and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred 
Dollars to me paid by William NEWTON the Sate and District aforesaid (?)Planter 
have Granted Bargained Sold and released and by these presents do Grant Bargain 
Sell and Release unto the said William NEWTON all the plantation parcel or part 
of a tract of Land containing Fifty acres more or less Situate in the District 
aforesaid in Scoots Fork N.E.
(page  5)   Great Pee Dee River Including the plantation whereon Jonathan 
MARINE, Ser. Now lives it Being part of that part of a tract of one hundred and 
fifteen acres of Land more or less which was deeded to Henry BEAUCHAMP by deed 
Bearing date the eighteenth day of February one Thousand Eight hundred and 
eight and being part of the tract of Land of three hundred and ninety three 
acres which was granted to Henry EASTERLING the part of the Same hereby 
bargained and Sold to the Sd. William NEWTON is hereby marked out as follows 
Vis Beginning at John BEAUCHAMPS Corner Scotts Fork Branch thense Running down 
with the run of Said Branch to a corner Gum 3X m a corner of Solomon BARFIELD 
Land thence with Sd. BARFIELD’s line to a corner Lightwood Stake on BAYKIN’s 
Line 3X m thence with BOYKIN’s Line to a corner on John BEAUCHAMP’s line in a 
cypress pond  then on with with Ser. BEAUCHAMP’s Line to the Beginning corner 
in Said Branch for Fifty acres of Land Be the Same more or less Together with 
all and Singular the Rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the Same 
belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining to have and to hold all and 
Singular the presents Before mentioned and I do hereby bind myself my heir, 
Executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the 
premises Before mentioned unto the Sd. William NEWTON His heirs and assigns 
forever From myself and my heirs and against all and every person or persons 
whomsoever Lawfully claiming or to claim the Same or any part thereof Witness 
my hand and Seal this the Eighteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one 
thousand Eighteen hundred and Seventeen and in the Forty first year of the 
Independence of the United State of America

Before me John DONOLDSON one of the Justice of the Peace for the Said District 
Personally appeared John McCOLL who being Sworn on the Holly Evangelist of 
Almighty God Saith on his oath that he was present and did see David MONTGOMERY 
Signed Seal and as his act and deed the on this instrument of writing to 
William NEWTON for the use and purposes therein mentioned and that himself and 
Eli WILLIS in the presence of each other witnessed the due Execution thereof 
John McCOLL.
