Marlborough District
Written: January 19, 1825

The State of South Carolina)
Know all men by these presents that I David MONTGOMERY of Marlborough District 
& State aforesaid planter in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Twenty 
four Dollars to me paid by Charles BOWMAN of the District aforesaid  (Coach 
maker) have granted bargained Sold & released & by these presents do grant Sell 
& release unto the said Charles BOWMAN all that lot or part of a Tract of Land 
containing One Acre of Land Situate in the District aforesaid N.E. of Great Pee 
Dee River Including the Buildings and other Improvements where the said BOWMAN 
Now lives bound by lines as follows Beginning at a stake 3X on the publick Road 
leading from Fayetteville to Marlborough Courthouse thence S.C. 70.00 3. 75 to 
a stake 3X thence S.W. 20.0 2. 30 to a Stake 3X thence S. W. 70.0 5.50 to a 
stake on said Road thence with said Road to the Beginning for the complement of 
one Acre of Land, the same was conveyed to me by Eli WILLISS by deed bearing 
date the Eleventh day of June one thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen and 
which was Recorded in the Registers office in Marlborough Distr5ict in Book K. 
pages (16 & 17) Together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments 
and appurtenances to the premises belonging or in anywise incident or 
appertaining To have and To hold all and singular The said premises unto the 
said Charles BOWMAN his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever and 
I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors administrators & assigns to warrant 
and forever defend all & singular the said premises unto the said Charles 
BOWMAN against myself & my heirs  & against all and every person or persons 
Whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this nineteenth day of 
January In the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty five by in 
the forty ninth year of American Independence.

that he was present & did see David MONTGOMERY Sign seal and as his act and 
deed deliver the within Instrument of writing to Charles BOWMAN for the use and 
purpose within mentioned & that himself & Duncan C McLEOD in the presence of 
each other witnessed the due Execution thereof
