State of South Carolina)
Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin PIKE of Marlborough District and 
State aforesaid, Planter for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred 
Dollars to me paid by David MONTGOMERY of the State and District aforesaid 
planter have Granted bargained Sold released and by these presents do Grant 
bargain Sell and release unto the Said David MONTGOMERY all that plantation 
parcel or part of a tract of Land containing fifty acres more or less Situate 
in the District aforesaid in Scotsts Fork N. E. of Great Pee Dee River 
including the plantation whereon the Said Benjamin PIKE now lives it being part 
of that tract of a Tract of one Hundred and fifteen acres of Land more or Less 
which was deeded to Henry BRUNCH (?) wife by deed bearing date the eighteen day 
of February one thousand Eight Hundred and eight and being part of that tract 
of Land

Of three Hundred and ninety three Acres which was granted to Henry EASTERLING 
(?)  the part of the Same hereby bargained and Sold to the Said David 
MONTGOMERY is hereby marked out as follows
Viz Beginning at John BEAUCHAMP’s corner Scotts fork branch thence running down 
with the run of Said Branch to a corner Gum 3X mm a corner of Solomon BARFIELD 
Land thence with Sd. BARFIELD’s Line to a corner lightwood Stake on BAYKIN’s 
Line 3X mm thence with BOYKIN’s Line to a corner on John BEAUCHAMP’s Line in a 
cypress pond thence with Sd. BEAUCHAMP’s line to the beginning corner in Sd. 
Branch for Fifty acres of Land Be the Same more or less Together with all and 
Singular the Rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the same 
belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining to have and to hold all and 
Singular the premises Before mentioned and I do hereby Bind myself my heirs 
Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever defend all and Singular the 
presents Before mentioned unto the Said the Sd. David MONTGOMERY his heirs and 
assigns forever from myself and my and my heirs and assigns all and every 
person or persons whomsoever lawfully Claiming or to claim the Same or any part 
thereof.  Witness my hand and Seal this Eight day of January in the year of our 
Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and Sixteen in the forteath year of the 
Independence of the United State of America

written Instrument of writing to David MONTGOMERY
