Contributed to The USGenWeb Archives by: Carol Boykin 29 Nov 97 ---------------------------------------- Marlboro County, SC, Deeds & Conveyances, Bk.G, pg. 256-257 May 1809 The State of South Carolina} Know all men by these that I Luke Robertson of the District of Marlborough in the State aforesaid planter in Consideration of the Sum of fifty Dollars to me paid by Legget Robertson of the District and State aforesaid planter have Granted Bargained sold & released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said Legget Robertson a part of a tract of land Containing fifty acres (more or less), being the upper part of that Tract of Land Containint two Hundred & fifty Acres which was Granted to Mathew Whitfield By his Excellencey Charles Granville(?)Morloges(?) Esquire Governor SC. Grant bearing date the 22nd day of November 1771 situate in the Distriact of Marlborough N.E. Great Peedee on Crooked Creek & Beverly's Mill Creek and hath such shapes forms and marks as is represented by a plat to the original Grant Annexed the said upper part of Fifty Acres (more or less, herby Bargained and sold to the said Legget Robertson is laid out as followeth Viz beginning at a pine marked on the longest line of said Tract Joining in Benjamin Beverly's Three Hundred Acres tract two blazes(?) and ?all then with a line of marked trees to a branch called the first dream(?) then to a pine marked two blazes and 3 chops(?) crosses(?) then up with the various courses of the said branch to the next longest line of said tract including all above said Dividing line. Also part of another tract of Two hundred and fifty acres situated in said District adjoining to the above fifty acres and hath such shapes and forms and marks as represented by a plat thereof to the original Grant annexed Viz beginning at a post at Corner new marked 2 blazes and 3 chops from thence with a line of new marked trees through the plantation by two new marked Persimion trees (four ?? trees) from the Persimon trees a straight line with same new marked pines to a corner a pine newly marked 2 Blazes and 3 Chops from thence to the Corner of the above fifty acres tract from thence with the above fifty acres tract line to a pine Corner to the back line from thence to the beginning post oak. Together with all and singular the rights Members, Hereditaments and appertainances to the said part of Two tracts of Land and premises belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold unto the said Legget Robertson his Heirs Executors and administrators and assigns forever and I do herby warrant and forever defend all & Singular the said premises unto the said Legget Robertson his Heirs and assigns against myself and my Heirs and against every Person whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof Witness my hand and seal this Ninth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and six and in the thirty-first Year of the Independanceny of the United States of America Signed Sealed and Delivered} in the presents of } his her } Luke x Robertson (seal) Martha x Gibson } mark mark } Samuel x(his mark) Robertson} State of South Carolina } Personally appeared before me William Marlborough District } Easterling one of the Justices of the Peace for the said District Martha Boykin who being sworn on the Holy Evanglist of Almighty God, saith on her oath that she was present and did see Luke Robertson sign seal and as his act and deed deliver the within instrument of writing to Legitt Robertson for the use and purposes therein Mentioned and that herself (then by the name of Martha Gibson ) and Samuel Robertson in the presence of each other witnessed the Due Execution thereof Sworn to & Signed before me this 11th day of August 1808 her Wm Easterling J.P.
