The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Section, Revolutionary War pension Claim S7700 John Hampton while a resident of Newberry, South Carolina enlisted early in 1779 and served about one month as a private in Captain Thomas Lindsey's Company, Colonel Lisle's South Carolina Regiment and Was in the battle of Brier Creek. Soon afterwards he enlisted and served one year and eleven months as a private under General Sumter, with the SC Troops, was in the battles of Ramsour's Mills, Rocky Mountain, Hanging Rock, Fishing Creek, Musgrove Mills,and Fish Dam Ford. He soon afterwards enlisted and served, length not stated, as a private in Captain Wade Hampton's South Carolina company, was in the Battle of Cowpens. He enlisted in the fall of 1781 and served four months as a private in Captain William's South Carolina Company. He enlisted in the spring of 1782 and served one month as a private in Captain Smith's company, Colonel Purvis' South Carolina Regiment. He was allowed a pension on this application executed July 1, 1833 at which time he was a resident of Jackson Co., Georgia. HE DIED ON JUNE 18, 1837.
