Box 165, Shiloh Street, Prosperity, died Monday. Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Henry and Georgia Oxner. He was a member of Moriah A.M.E. Church and the Sons of Aid Society Lodge No. 61 and was a retired carpenter with Claude Lake Construction; also, a World War II veteran. Surviving are his two sons, Larry Oxner and Calvin Oxner of Prosperity; two daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Bookman of Prosperity, Mrs. Bobbie O. Harp of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Ulysses Werts, Louis Werts, Joe Werts, all of Philadelphia, Pa. and Bubba Werts of Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven sisters, Mrs Peggy Whitener of Newberry, Mrs. Mattie Mae Wise, Miss Edith Werts, Miss Dorothy Werts, Mrs. Martha Jackson, all of Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Lillie Mae McCoy of Bridgeport, Conn., Miss Mamie Lee Werts of Minneapolis, Minn., two foster sisters, Mrs. Alice Wheeler of Prosperity and Mrs. Roberta Dominick of Lexington; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two uncles, one aunt, two devoted daughters-in-law, Mrs Margaret Oxner and Mrs. Linda Oxner of Prosperity; a son-in-law, Rev. Johnny Frank Harp of Altanta, Ga.; five sisters- in-law, three brothers-in-law, one foster brother-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Robert H. Boyd. Burial follows in Antioch Cemetery. The family is at his residence on Shiloh Street, Prosperity. Wilson Funeral Home in charge.
