Microfilm 9 Roll 19 Volume 2, Book G, Pages 62-63 State of South Carolina Newberry Dist. March 16th 1818. Be it remembered, that I, Mathew Smith of Newberry district State of South Carolina, being weak in body, but of sound mind and perfect memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, (that is to say). First I give and bequeath to my eldest Son Lyddleton Smith, that part of my tract of Land on which he now resides situated and Lying on Campin Creek, waters of Saluda, north side, butting and bounding on lands belonging to George Lever. Eastward, on lands belonging to Frederick Paysinger. South East direction, on land at present belonging to George Shephard, about West now west course, Campin Creek to be considered as the line between my two Sons lands on that side, the whole of said part of tract of land supposed to be about Eighty Acres more or less. I do also give and bequeath to my youngest Son Luke Smith part of tracts of land, say two hundred acres joining land of Frederick Paysinger, Daniel Livingston and G. Shephard, Snaps Branch to be considered the boundry line on the south side, or course, from which this two hundred acres is to be run of. I also do further give and bequeath to my eldest son Lyddleton Smith part of a tract of land purchased by me from Frederick Paysinger, Say one hundred #### and Twenty acres of said land, Commencing to run it on the south side, adjoining lands of H. Dominick Junr., H. Dominick Senr, and F. Paysinger. The remaining part of all my lands that may be left must be run and equally Divided between my two Son's Lyddleton Smith and Luke Smith. I do also give to my son Luke Smith one fether bed & bed stead bed cloths etc. belonging to it, also one Bay Horse Saddle and Bridle he now holds as his property, also two head of cattle in his mark, also two ##### Sows and some shouts in his mark, and all the Sheep in his mark. The Kitchen furniture, say pots Kettles Pans &c together with my pewter plates and crockery to be equally divided between my three Children, say my son Luke Smith my Daughter Martha Smith, my Daughter Rachel Smith or Singleton or what ever name she may bear at return to this District of Newberry, South Carolina she bearing no other name when she left me but Rachel Smith, but might marry and change her name before her return. I also give to my son Luke Smith one plow swingle tree Cleveris etc gears also one ax and one mattock. I also give and bequeath to my Daughter Rachel Smith Singleton or what ever she may be called Thirty Dollars in Cash independent of all other Legacys also one Fether Bed & Bed Cloths belonging to the same, also one spinning wheel & pair of card, also one Cow and yearling. I also give and bequeath to my Daughter Martha Smith, One Bed and Bedstead bed cloths etc belonging to said Bed, also one spinning wheel one pair of cards also one trunk and Thirty Dollars in Cash independent of all other Legacies together with one Cow and calf. It is my further bequest that my negroes Six in number, my Horse, Cattle Hogs etc. one four Horse Waggon and all other property I may own, to be sold and the moneys to be equally divided between my Daughers say Kernhappuch Livingston, Mary Jumpard and Rachel Smith Singleton or what ever she may be called and Martha Smith which said several legacies or sums of money I will and order Shall be paid to the said respective legatees within Eighteen months from the day of Sail, the Sail to commence as early after my Decease, as decency and circumstances will admit. I hereby appoint my two sons Lyddleton Smith and Luke Smith sole Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand seal this 16th day of March in the year of our Lord 1818. Signed, Sealed, published, and declared by the above Mathew Smith to be his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request and at his presence have here unto subscribed our names as Witnesses to the same.
