They then sought for a parcel of land to build on. Mr. Lum Simpson provided this land and a brush arbor was then erected on this land. A brush arbor is a structure with a back and two sides, with the front entrance being left open for light and ventilation. In 1915 a parcel of land was purchased from Willis Bradley for the purpose of building a more permanent structure. This was recorded in the Book of Deeds at the Courthouse in Walhalla, South Carolina, thus establishing the New Promiseland Baptist Church. The church was moved to Hurricane Road, Westminster, SC in 1959. Mrs. Pearl Daniels Beeks and her sister, Mrs. Lottie Daniels McEntire, gave this land to the church. Since being moved to that location the church had many improvements and renovations done to it. The addition of a lunchroom and kitchen, improvement of bathrooms for handicap accessibility, the central air and heating was replaced in the sanctuary, a wheelchair ramp, and a new front entrance to the church. City water was also added to the Church. Deacons who helped to establish the church are Willis Bradley, R.B. Stewert, J.W. Ware, J.W. Skelton, W.D. Skelton, A.M. Mobly, and W.H. Latimer. Other deacons to follow were: Bethlehem (Bubba) Latimer, Jess Jones, Aaron Jones, E.D. Bradley, Walt Jones, Eddie Bradley, J.W. Breazeale, Albert Breazeale, C.A. Latimer, Nathaniel Skelton, Kenneth Goodine, Joe Bradley, William Bradley and Curtis Goodine. Ministers that have pastured this church are Rev. C.M. Galloway, Rev. Ellis Rev. Shoemaker, Rev. Watson, Rev. William, Rev. J.R. Brown, Rev. Manuel Skelton, Rev. J.B. Chappelle, Rev. R.L. Sitton, Rev. Tommy B. Orr and presently Rev. George Sloan who was elected June 13,1993. In the year of 1999 New Promiseland Baptist Church members decided to relocate. They purchased John Wesley United Methodist Church in Westminster, SC and three acres of land from New Harmony Methodist Church. On February 12, 2000 the closing deadline was met. The sanctuary and basement was painted, central air was added to the upper part of the church, the pulpit was reconstructed and new carpet was placed on the floor. On April 16, 2000at 9:00 AM, Palm Sunday, the members of New Promiseland Baptist Church met at the church on Hurricane Road, Westminster, SC for the last time. We sang two songs and had prayer. The motorcade was lead by Pastor Rev. George Sloan, Rev. Thomas Allen, Rev. Amos Lewis, members and friends to the New Church on 210 Dickson Street, Westminster, SC. On May 21, 2000 we had Dedication Service of our new and present church. A Dedication Revival was held May 23, 24 and 25, 2000. Our first Homecoming at our present location was held June 4, 2000, followed by our Annual Revival, July 31- August 4, 2000. The dream and hope of our fore parents was to have a church that would endeavor to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and this too remains the hope and dream of the members today of the New Promiseland Baptist Church. We the present day members are grateful to our fore parents perseverance and determination. Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.
