These individuals, motivated by an unyielding desire for hearing the "word of God," not only established Ozion Baptist Church as a place for Sunday morning worship but also realized the need for Sunday morning Study. Thus was the creation of the Ozion Baptist Church Sunday School. During the formation of the church as a whole, the Sunday School was and still does remain a vital part of the church Christian training. Under the direction of some of the early Superintendents: Gil Kilpatrick, John Alexander, Frank Alexander, Sr. Foster Earle, Warren Kilpatrick, Dennis Alexander, and J.V. Kilpatrick, the foundation for an organization which still continues to grow was sufficiently built. Other officers during the early years include secretaries: Joe L. Saddler, Walter B. Brown, Vada Saddler, Linda Durham, Lillie Grant Mack, Susie Holland, Earlene Collins, and Frank Earle. Through the years three buildings have been built for congregational worship and study. The first structure erected was a wooden church located just 100 feet from the present day structure and situated where the graveyard site is now. The first building was built by Mr. Johnson Wright, with the help of the congregational members. The second building, built from wood also, served as the meeting place for Sunday School and worship until 1973. In 1973 the present day block structure was built under the pastorship of Rev. J.C. Cunningham. Today, at Ozion Baptist Church the hard work and dedication of our fore-fathers who labored and felt the need for Christian learning and worship can be seen in the tremendous progress made evident today. Under the present pastorship of the Rev. Curtis Adams, the Sunday School has added additional classes and teachers. The present superintendent is Mr. J.V. Kilpatrick, assistant Mr. T.C. Walker; secretary is Mr. Charles Walker, assistant Mr. Ray Morris. Teachers are Adult class Miss Ethel L.M. Brown, assistant Mr. David Walker, Young Adult Mr. Kenny Morris, assistant Miss Macie Morris, Intermediate Mrs. Willie Mae Woods, assistant Mrs. Dorothy Morris, Primary Mrs. Mable Adams and assistant Mrs. Mildred Hail Through the years the Sunday School has undertaken several projects in which members and friends were able to fellowship together as Christians away from the house of worship. One of our annual projects sponsored by the Sunday School is the Christmas program and Church Family Dinner. We at Ozion Baptist Church will continue to teach the "Word of God" for we realize that through the Word there is Salvation.
