Drive 10.4 miles W on Highway 123. Turn right on S 37-68 (River Road) and drive N 1.6 miles. Cemetery is on left side of road, on a hill. Latitude N 34 37.649 x Longitude W 83 14.336 CHURCH/CEMETERY HISTORY: ------------------------ It appears that there was a Starr homestead that was located along side of the Tugaloo River. When Lake Hartwell was formed, water covered the homestead and the owners were forced to move. At that time, the following James Starr grave was probably reinterred. TOMBSTONE TRANSCRIPTION NOTES: ------------------------------ a. = age at death b. = date-of-birth d. = date-of-death h. = husband m. = married p. = parents w. = wife (6) Field-stone grave markers The following tombstone inscription was very difficult to read. It appears that this child's grave was relocated to another cemetery. It's been reported that the surname might be STARR, but the tombstone inscription looks like STAPP. STAPP(?), James De(?) Feb(?)
