It was built in the 1800s and it was also used for church services. The Cherry Hill Baptist Church was organized August 13, 1881. Records in the Oconee County School District office show Clara Mashburn taught there in 1878. In 1895 trustees appointed to Cherry Hill were C.M. Ridley, J.G. Davis and W.A. Kelly. In 1911-12 trustees were Jas. Burrell, Geo. Ridley and J.M. Ridley. During the 1930s the following taught there until 1939-40, when the school closed: Eliza Keown, Hattie King, Edward Callas, Loula R. Beaty, Cora Burgess and Lula Mae Greene. Some other trustees who served at Cherry Hill were B.P. Rogers, Mrs. Hassie Chastain and Lawrence Burrell. [MSQ] The church dissolved because most all of its members were from the "other side" of the mountain. Members didn't like making the long trip to church every Sunday, so they build a new church on "their side" of the mountain in 1933 and called it the Cherry Hill Church of God. It's unknown when the Cherry Hill Baptist Church actually dissolved. Researchers/residents were not aware that this was a church cemetery, so they started calling the place the Burrell-Nicholson- Ridley Family cemetery because of its tombstone inscription names. The tombstone inscriptions are as follows.
