Drive (N) on Highway 76/123 (N Oak Street). In 0.4 miles turn right (S) onto N Walnut Street. In 0.2 miles bear left (S) onto S Walnut Street. In 1.2 miles go straight (SE) onto SR 37-21 (SR S37-21). In 1.1 miles bear right (SE) onto SR S37-21 (S Friendship Road). In 6.1 miles go straight (SE) onto S Friendship Road. In 0.1 miles bear left (E) onto Oconee Point Road. In 0.3 miles turn right (SE) onto un-named local road. Drive to its end (Oconee County). The island is located 0.75 miles (SE) of roads end (Anderson County). Latitude N 34 35.500 x Longitude W 82 51.383 CEMETERY HISTORY: ------------------------ This was a typical Slave labor plantation that was located along the Keowee River. During the forming of Lake Hartwell, the area where the plantation was located got covered by water. Because the cemetery was located on a high knoll, it survived the lake's forming.
