Mr. Abbott was a native of Oconee county, a son of the late Wiburn and Louisa Alexander Abbott, pioneer Oconee county families. He had lived in Seneca for the past 40 years where he was engaged in the furniture and music business. He was also connected with his brother, Bert A. Abbott, in the funeral business. He was a member of Seneca Baptist church as well as a life member of Seneca Masonic Lodge 185 A.F.M. he served as a deacon of the church for several years. Surviving besides his brother are three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Cox of Walhalla, Miss Annie Abbott, and Mrs. Mertie A. Isbell, both of the home: four additional brothers, J.S. Abbott of Walhalla, the Rev. H. T. Abbott of Springfield, Illinois, Jay B. Abbott of Liberty, D. S. Abbott, Sr. of Seneca. Funeral services were conducted at Seneca Baptist Church, Saturday by the Rev. James P. Stokes and Dr. E. V. Babb. Burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park. Masons had charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers were E. H. Lowery, John Field, Charles Sorrell, Bill Reames, Neil McCallum, Lloyd Abbott,Joe Mason, and Lloyd Bell. Honorary escort was composed of the Men's Bible Class of Seneca Baptist church and Dr. Rufus Nimmons, Dr. J. L. Nickles, Dr. William Brownlee and Barney Smith.
